01 Jan Goodbye, 2013. Hello, 2014.

Two thousand thirteen was an absolutely magical year for all of us at By Emily B. From our incredible clients, to our growing team of brilliant and creative women, it has only become more clear just how much we love what we do. We worked at amazing venues with wedding professionals we’ve admired for years. We’re forever grateful for all the love  stories we got to take part in during the last twelve months. We’re still missing images from a few of our 2013 weddings, but we’ve got some serious eye candy so let’s take a peek at our year in review…

We kicked it all off with Mike and Elyse on Memorial Day weekend, in a greenhouse. It may have snowed after dark, but it was still incredibly amazing and truly memorable.

June 15 was a double wedding weekend. Half the team planned Teddy and Meghan’s amazing navy and pink nautical wedding at Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. The centerpieces and bouquets were comprised of over 800 hot pink peonies…

And then Kathleen and Mike tied the knot at the Seacoast Science Center, which was also totally awesome…

Sung-hee and David exchanged vows in a church on the Dartmouth campus with…wait for it…pink interior walls! It is one of the most magical churches we’ve ever set foot in. A romantic reception at Simon Pearce was to follow and Valley Flower Co. did the floral design, which was totally fantastic.

Dan and Kelley planned a sweet and casual surprise wedding on Lake Sunapee. Their family arrived anticipating an engagement party, but what they got was an exchanging of vows and a beautiful celebration. We created a succulent wreath and delivered it by boat the morning of their wedding.

In July we had the pleasure of collaborating with Sandra Costello Photography and the vendors of Bliss A Bridal Collective for a photo shoot at Honora Vineyard. Inspired by the work of Ben Giles, and backed by the floral expertise of Forget Me Not Florist, we designed a warm, summery styled shoot, which was featured on Wedding Chicks. It’s also known as the day Kristin got to wear Jenny Packham’s Mimosa gown. Swoon.

We followed up the Honora Vineyard shoot with another unforgettable collaboration during the hot summer months. With help from Valley Flower Co, we put together one serious cool collection of details inspired by our childhood love of unicorns, rainbows, and Lisa Frank. Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design brought some seriously cool paper products to the table, as usual, and Nuage Designs donated a killer purple sequin linen. And don’t even get me started on the cake by Pleasant Street Sweets, total magic. Shot by Rodeo & Co. Photography, this is probably my favorite thing we’ve ever done. Oh and it was featured on Inspired by This AND in print in the newest issue of WellWed Maine & New Hampshire. Hot damn.

Tracey and Ben were one of those couples that we connected with immediately. As high school sweethearts with a shared love of great adventure, their playful and carefree energy was something we wanted to be sure we let shine through their wedding theme and design. And the fact that they chose Ohana Family Camp as a venue was all-too-perfect…

Ginger and Trevor tied the knot on the shores of Lake Sunapee and celebrated with an al fresco dinner under the stars…

Marcie and Tim’s mutual love of adventure and mountain biking informed their choice of venue. Nestled in the heart of Vermont’s Kingdom Trails, Pavilion in the Pines provided the perfect backdrop for these two lovebirds. By Emily B. did all floral design and lighting, including a super cool Color Cord Company installation complete with gold glitter dipped feathers…

Erika and Jason hail from New York City and tasked us with creating a romantic setting for their September wedding at The Woodstock Inn. Our design combined with exquisite linens from Nuage Designs, gorgeous florals from Valley Flower Co., and the entertainment skills of Patrick Bergeron, Metro Music made for a killer evening.

No offense to any of the absolutely phenomenal couples we worked with this year, but Dwight and Sandy take the cake. We planned a romantic White Mountain proposal, followed by a surprise wedding at The Common Man Greenhouse in Plymouth. It was some of the most fun we’ve ever had. Megan and Adam exchanged vows at the beautiful Baptist Church in New London, New Hampshire. They then arrived (with their bridal party) in two vintage Chris Crafts at Lake Sunapee Yacht Club for a bright, nautical celebration. This ceiling install was one of our favorite things we did this year: 800 feet of bistro lights mixed with a textured cream bunting.  The highlight of the evening? The couple’s choreographed first dance, which included several lifts.

Jake and Julia have to be two of the most magical people we know. Their beauty, both inside and out, is a total inspiration. And their wedding? Don’t even get me started. I have few words to describe the total romance and creativity that blanketed this day. We partnered with Flowers by Leslie for floral design, and with the help of this totally unique and artistic bride, we knocked this Portsmouth wedding out of the park.

Oh and all that romance was captured in motion (amazingly) by Ellipsis Entertainment…

And we have yet to receive images from our last wedding of the year but Long Haul Films tells the story effortlessly…

Client-wise, we wrapped 2013 up in the perfect bow with Rachel and Pete. Lucky for us because we totally adore them. They renewed their vows in their own way, on their own terms, and we’re just lucky to have been a part of it all. They’re definitely top of our list for favorite people of 2013.

To finish the year, we hopped on a plane to the islands for a magical styled shoot. Something we planned in an effort to promote our new pop-up event design studio and partnership with Lindsay Vann Photography on St. John. With our beautiful Katherine living on the island , we’re hoping to add a few destination weddings to our line up for 2014 and 2015. And if this shoot doesn’t make you want to get married in the Caribbean, I don’t know what will. So much romance.
